On this page

Insights shows how your clinic is doing as a business: what you’ve collected, where it came from and what’s worth changing. Select Insights in the left sidebar to open it.

Choosing a period

Use the buttons at the top right to pick 30 days, 90 days or 12 months. The page opens on 90 days. Each period ends today, and figures are compared with the period of the same length immediately before it.

Charts group the figures by day for 30 days, by week (starting Monday) for 90 days, and by month for 12 months. Days follow your clinic’s time zone.

What’s on the page

What to look at

Suggestions drawn from the figures below, such as a popular treatment that earns less per hour than another, a high no-show rate, a quiet day of the week or a treatment nobody booked. They only appear when there’s enough history for them to mean something, so a new clinic may not see any.

Headline figures

FigureWhat it counts
Revenue collectedMoney received in the period, after refunds, including booking fees taken now for appointments later
AppointmentsConfirmed and completed appointments in the period
Average per appointmentRevenue collected divided by appointments
New patientsPatient records added in the period

Each figure shows the change against the previous period, or No comparison yet if there’s nothing to compare with.

Over time

Two charts side by side, Revenue collected and Bookings, over the same periods. Seeing them together shows whether a change in takings came from more appointments or from each one being worth more.

Where the money comes from

One row per appointment type, with Booked, Revenue, Share (of all revenue collected), Avg (revenue per booking) and Per hour (revenue per hour of diary time). Retired appointment types still appear, marked (retired), if they took money in the period. Per hour is often the fairest way to compare long and short treatments.

Money left on the table and Do patients come back

Cancellations, no-shows, the value of lost slots, and how many patients return. See Understanding lost revenue and patient retention.

By practitioner

For each owner and practitioner with appointments in the period: Appointments, Hours booked, Revenue and Per hour.

Busiest days

Appointments by day of the week, Monday to Sunday, so you can see where the diary is thin.

Where the numbers come from

  • Revenue is money collected, not prices quoted. It comes from payments recorded in Clinicify, dated when the money arrived, after refunds. Money you take outside Clinicify isn’t included.
  • Revenue is linked to the appointment it was paid for, so a booking fee taken today for an appointment next month still counts towards the right treatment and practitioner.
  • Cancelled appointments are never counted as bookings.
  • Until you’ve taken some bookings and payments, the page shows Nothing to show yet.

Good to know

  • The figures are worked out fresh each time you open the page, so they’re always up to date.
  • You can also reach Insights from Booking analytics (under Bookings) by selecting Revenue and insights. Booking analytics shows which treatments are booked most and least, without any money, and the whole team can see it. See Booking analytics.
