Remembering a trusted device

If you use two-step verification, you can tell Clinicify to trust the computer or phone you use every day. On a trusted device you still sign in as normal, but you aren’t asked for a text message code.

How it works

When you’re asked for a code on the Verify it’s you screen, you may see a box labelled Always trust this device. Tick it before you select Verify and continue.

For the next 30 days, Clinicify skips the code on that device and browser. After 30 days, you’ll be asked for a code again, and you can choose to trust the device for another 30 days.

Trusting a device only skips the code. It never skips signing in.

When you won’t see the option

Always trust this device only appears if your clinic allows it. Owners can turn it off for the whole clinic under Settings > Team & access > Security, for example if your team shares computers. When it’s off, you’re asked for a code every time, and any devices you trusted earlier stop being trusted. See Clinic security settings.

See and revoke your trusted devices

  1. Go to Settings > Your preferences > Security.
  2. In the Multi-factor authentication card, find Trusted devices. Each device shows its browser and system (for example Chrome on macOS), its IP address and when its trust expires.
  3. Select Revoke next to any device you no longer use or don’t recognise.

The next time that device is used to sign in, it will be asked for a code.

Good to know

  • Trust belongs to the browser as well as the device. If you use a different browser, or clear your browser’s cookies, you’ll be asked for a code again.
  • Turning off two-step verification removes all your trusted devices.
  • Sign out everywhere on your Security page signs out your sessions but doesn’t remove trusted devices. Revoke them separately if you need to.
  • If you don’t recognise a device, revoke it, then check your Sign-in history on the same page.
