Upload a lab report

On this page
Upload a lab report against a patient and Clinicify’s AI reads the results out of it into a table. Nothing is shown to the patient until a clinician has checked the table and approved it.
Before you start
- Owners and practitioners upload lab results.
- The patient must already have a record in Clinicify. If they don’t, add them first (see Add a patient).
- Have the report as a PDF, JPG, PNG or WEBP file, up to 50 MB. A clear scan or photo works; a blurred or cropped one produces more values to check.
Steps
- Select Lab Results in the left sidebar.
- Select Upload results.
- Under Select patient, choose the patient.
- Check the patient’s name shown at the top of the page.
- Drag the file onto the upload area, or select the area to browse for it. You can upload one file at a time.
- Select Upload & extract.
You can also start from the patient’s record: open the patient, go to the Lab Results tab and select Upload results. The patient is already chosen for you.
What happens next
You’re taken to the upload’s review page, which shows Extraction in progress… while the AI reads the report. The page refreshes itself when it’s done, usually within a minute or so. The upload then shows Needs review, and it also appears under Lab results to review on your dashboard.
From there, a clinician checks the values and publishes them. See Review and publish lab results.
If you’d rather not wait, select I’d rather enter manually and type the results in yourself. Manually entered results follow your clinic’s lab results delay, like approved ones.
Good to know
- One report can contain several panels (for example a full blood count and thyroid function). The AI keeps them as separate panels.
- If you upload the same file for the same patient twice, Clinicify tells you This file has already been uploaded. and opens the existing upload instead of creating a second one.
- The file name is stored encrypted, because lab files are often named after the patient.
- If the AI can’t read the report after three attempts, the upload shows Extraction failed, both in the list on the Lab Results page and on the upload itself, and you can enter the results manually. See Lab results troubleshooting.
- The report is sent to the AI only to read the values. The AI provider doesn’t keep patient data.
